New Zealand secondary school students

Distance Learning is part of the Carter Observatory's education programme. As a part of the Observatory's goal to provide astronomy education for New Zealand students, we provide access to level one NCEA astronomy courses. Each course is worth four level one credits, and teaches a unit standard.

The courses are taught online so you can study at home or at school on any computer with an internet connection. You can work on your course at any time, day or night. Our Astronomer; Brian Carter will answer your questions and mark your work.

You can begin your course right away by clicking on sign up now, below. Note that when you sign up, an invoice will be generated. You have 14 days to contact us to cancel the invoice if you no longer want to do the course.
